Free Training! Be A Resiliency Builder for Youth!

Everyone who has healthy relationships with young people should be "trauma-informed." Join us for this free training to enhance your knowledge and skills!

We often hear the term "It Takes A Village" when it comes to supporting our youth. Nearly everyone agrees that our world will be a better place if our young people grow up to live their best possible lives and find success. Yet, there are often differing ideas and sources of advice about how to support the growth and development of kids and teens. Many times, those ideas are shaped by our own experiences growing up.

"Building Resiliency: A How-To Guide for Safe Adults", developed by The Center for Family Safety and Healing at Nationwide Children's Hospital, is a training that contains knowledge and support strategies rooted in the brain science of adolescent development. The Stark County Health Department has been awarded a grant from the Ohio Department of Health Adolescent Health Office to offer this training to anyone in our community who works with or is involved with youth professionally, as a volunteer, or informally. MentorStark is proud to be a training partner of the Stark County Health Department and will be offering this free training on the following dates in September 2025:

Advancing The Mentoring Movement in Stark County

Since our launch in April 2020, MentorStark's foremost goal is to be a catalyst to promote more connection in Stark County between young people and trusted adults. We do this by promoting the many high quality mentoring and youth development programs available in Stark County, and by filling career-focused social capital-building gaps in our community. We also do it by educating people about the "mentoring mindset" and how everyone can build supportive and opportunity-enhancing relationships in their lives. We are grateful for the community partners who are helping spread the word about the power of mentoring and who really helped elevate the message in January during National Mentoring Month.
